OUR PROCESS

Standard Process

Initial Inquiry

Client reaches out to use via email, phone, or through our website to discuss a project. This is where a lot of initial questions and answers happen to gain an understanding of the project. Once we have an understanding of the project, we evaluate the project and follow up.

Project Evaluation

Once we receive your inquiry, we’ll evaluate the proposed project and advise you whether we think we’re a good fit. Factors such as location, budget, scope of work and the volume of requests we receive means we can’t provide quotes on every proposal or accept every job that comes our way. However, we’re happy to provide some advice to help you find the team that’s right for you.

Preliminary Schedule

Upon approval of the planning budget a preliminary schedule is drafted and sent to the client.

Establish Budget

Once we have a good understanding of the project, a planning budget is created and presented to the client. The planning budget will inform the client of the potential costs of the project. If the planning budget is approved, we proceed to the next steps.

Retainer

Hiland Construction arranges for another visit for site measurements used to create the permit drawings. At the time of the visit, a retainer is collected which covers pre-construction costs including drawings, permits and any other documents that must be drafted for city submission. The meeting lasts a couple of hours and involves the owner of Hiland Construction and the lead architect, if necessary.

Construction Documents

If construction documents are required and/or requested by the client, a meeting is arranged to present the construction documents that have been drafted for the client’s approval. The client can notify the team of any changes they would like to make until they are satisfied with the design. We do not move to the next phase until the drawings and designs are approved by the client.

Permitting

Upon completion of the construction documents, the plans are submitted to the permitting jurisdiction for review and approval by either Hiland Construction or the design team.

Scope of Work

With the completed drawings, Hiland Construction creates a detailed scope of work that outlines the roadmap for the proposed project. As a project management based company, we work with local subcontractors to provide us with initial quotes for pricing. Once the scope of work is completed, we present it to the client.
